Triathlon swim workouts to get you over your swim worries
Seems that most new triathletes who haven’t come from a swim background have the same worries; “how am I going to survive the swim“, “If I get through the swim, I’m all set.”My first triathlon took place in a pool, so although nervous I was not worried about drowning in the water. My first open water swim, without a proper triathlon swim workouts plan well let’s just say thank God it was in a fairly shallow river, because I walked for a bit. That is embarrassing, so getting yourself ready is an important step. Picking your triathlon swim workouts is one key to gain your confidence.
With the right triathlon swim workouts anyone can do it.
I will say this, if my wife and I can do it, anyone can. We decided to get some personal coaching mostly because I was training for my first Ironman. Yes an ironman and I couldn’t even do a swim for a sprint, not to bright. Again, if I can do it you can. So what type of triathlon swim workouts do you want to do when you are getting started?
How many times a week to do my triathlon swim workouts?
As a beginner or in need for dramatic improvement in the water, recommend swimming three to four times per week, for a ninety day stretch, then you can settle them to two or three if time management becomes an issue.
Triathlon swim workouts, speed or endurance?
If you’re a beginner, focusing on proper technique and endurance during your triathlon swim workouts is far more important than
speed work. Speed can come with time, but if you don’t focus on technique you will waste a ton of energy and gain very little speed. Drills drills and more drills until your technique is great.
